Bible Question: What do you think is the best version of the Bible? (the one that best captures the intent of the original authors) |
Bible Answer: Although I have answered this to a similar post. I must 'answer' 'that best captures the intent of the original authors' You may well have not expressed yourself as you intended in your heart. But still the words speak then differently and must be answered.because albeit they might to you mean one thing (being expressed) to another as they are so written they convey completely something else. There is only ONE author of the scriptures. That is the Holy Spirit; God Himself. For He inspired them so to write even as was according to His mind. For "He knoweth the mind of God" From that springs no intent but a seed that has roots a stem and finally fruit. "For the Word of God is a seed" so sayeth the scriptures. We are by the scriptures to come "to know HIM who is from the beginning"(ijohn) The intent then is a none arrival nor for that matter a departure. "Not one jot or tittle shaLL pass away..."I understand that a jot and a tittle is the varios small markings denoitign this or that in the Hebrew script. If such little marks are important and not to be omitted or added how much more words verses and the like? I do not want mans thinking and interpretation of what thye percive was the authors intent.I want an accurate tranaslation of the original. That in no way dilutes, corrupts changes or in any other way changes the message "that proccedeth from His mouth" The understanding will come by HIM who so inspired them to so write according to the mind of God as I "lean not upon my own understanding....." but upon HIM "who leadeth us into all truth" It is an accurate translation you me or any man needs not another of mans interpretations of what they THINK God said. This whole sorry mess started with that idea with "hath God said" (gen) and we know where THAT came from and whe thus know also where it will lead! Most sincerely gerald |
