Bible Answer: It seems to me that there is no question about it. The most literally accurate English Bible is the New American Standard Bible. . . . In answering the question, "What is the best version of the Bible," one must always ask, "Best for what?" For word-for-word study, devotional reading, general reading, teaching 5th graders, what? For word-for-word study and for general use, you can't beat the New American Standard Bible. . . . The intent of the original authors would best be determined by the words they wrote. We learn what the Bible MEANS by what is SAYS. The New American Standard Bible is the most literal, accurate, exact translation of those words. Hence, it would have to be the one that best captures the authors' original intent. |
