Bible Question: Did the original version of the Bible have 5 additional books, and the name, Jehovah was found instead of God? If so, who had the power and authority to remove these 5 books, and replace Jehovah with God? Why? Thank you. JC |
Bible Answer: Hello Janice The only additional considerations were the books of the Apocrypha. These were rejected as uninspired and therefore not Scripture. We have the complete word of God. If I remember correctly, "Jehovah" is the English transliteration of the German word used in the Old Testament for the Hebrew "YHWH". Modern translations use LORD in capitals to signify YHWH. The reason we use LORD is that the translators that put together the Septuagint (a Greek translation of the OT assembled before Jesus lived) decided to use the word "kurios" (which means "lord") for YHWH.
