Subject: what is baptism |
Bible Note: Hi Nolan, The "magical element" in the waters of baptism is your faith! "Having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through you faith in the power of God who raised him from the dead." Col. 2:12 To say that we don't have the choice to accept the gift of salvation God freely gives us nullifies the faith it takes to save us! Yes salvation comes through Christ alone, He has provided the door through which we enter through. "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, brothers, what shall we do? Peter replied, repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call. With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, save yourselves from this corrupt generation. Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” Acts 2:37-41 The Word clearly teaches that there is action to be taken on our part. Repentence is personal, something you do. I don’t know anyone that is in Christ that hasn’t truly repented. I am not saying that anything we do saves us. But I do say that obeying the Word of God will save us. If God says repent and be baptized than why do you think it is so wrong to obey? Please reply to the question I asked about Matt.28:18-20. Kin |
