Subject: Only seal and horse in same verse Rev6:5 |
Bible Note: Greetings Ed! It is definitely a confusing situation simply because the TR is the only one which uses the abreviation 'chi xi stigma'. Here is what has happened. Strong packs a lot of information into a very small amount of space. The part in the () does not concern the letter 'stigma', but the word 'stigma'. The word 'stigma # 4742' is used in Gal. 6:17 where it refers to the marks of the Lord Jesus. These are known as the marks of the cross. What Strong is doing is commenting that the word 'stigma' has reference to the marks of the cross. The simple fact is that it is well known what the letter 'stigma' looked like. It looked like an upsided down or backward 5. If you want to see it, go to this web site: http://www.parthia.com/font_stigma.htm There are two sad parts to this whole discussion. 1) Casiv doesn't know Greek, but pretends to! 2) Strong's # 5516 is not important anyway, since only the TR uses it. I have yet to find a single manuscript, other than the TR, that uses the short form. Every other manuscript spells the words out. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
