Bible Note: Dear Ed, Thank you for your well reasoned response. The bible says that we battle not against flesh and blood but against wicked spiritual forces. We also know that our enemy is a defeated foe. Our war was won at Calvery by our king who even now is using this earth as His footstool. Therefore the war (for all intents and puposes) is already won and we are now engaged in a mop-up operation. Jesus said: "...I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it." (Matt 16:18) These cults and false religions (as well as agnostics and atheists) are hunkered down behind these gates of Hell. They want no part of the kingdom of God. But we have orders from our king to tear down those gates. Now, He does not expect us to accomplish this through carnal weapons but with the spiritual power that is the gospel itself! We just keep on preachin' it. Sometimes we will see immediate results, but most of the time we dont't see those hairline fractures that are forming in that big, ugly and intimidating gate. Then one day a little foolish christian comes along and gives em the gospel one more time and BOOM!!! It collapses like a house of cards and a wave of evangelistic fervor sweeps the world as multitudes are saved on the left and on the right. A Bona Fide act of God! In the meantime we just keep pounding away at it. John |
