Bible Note: John You absolutely right we need to present the gospel. However in the case of cults they are trained not only resist this presentation but to to respond in a way to turn the presentation into a comparison of the two beliefs. Their focus is not on what you say but how to use what you say to where they want to go. They then guide the conversation to such things that are beyond human ability to explain such as the trinity. Or guide the discussion to a point that beyond the ability of most people to explain such as where did evil come from. Then provide pat, logical and fleshly pleasing answers to those questions. Many do not know this but a cultist is debriefed after every visitation session. They review what was said and where they made mistakes or missed opportunities. If you watch they usually travel in groups with one remaining mostly silent to observe and critique. How many Christians would go to the bother of rehearsing their gospel presentation much less review after the fact their shortcomings? My statement to the original question was and still is, unless your well rooted and established in Christianity, familiar with the traps the cults use, your time would be better served witnessing to agnostics. Most Christians don’t know what they believe. Ask you church friend the two EE questions, If you die tomorrow where would you go. And when you get to heaven if someone asks you what got you here what would you say. You will find most do not know the answer and to the shame of the church will answer incorrectly However the cultist not only knows the question, they know the correct answer, and know how to take the conversation to the point their beliefs are more logical and therefore more acceptable by the flesh EdB |
