Subject: A SIN TO FILE BANKRUPTCY |
Bible Note: Prayon I know tragedy strikes and sometimes we find ourselves in situations beyond our control. However we made a promise to repay our debt and I think we still need to attempt to do that. Even if it means a dollar a month. Bankruptcy may be needed to protect you while you try to repay but I don't think any true Christian can believe they can just forget the debit and say they are walking in Jesus' admonishment to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I see "Christian" file bankruptcy and in a year to two live as they were before they filed. New cars, furniture, homes, new TV, cell phones, Cable TV, Call forwarding you name it. They completely ignore the fact they broke their word, and stuck someone with loss. We are told to let our yea’s be yea and our nay’s be nay, also we are known by our fruit. Our fruit should be more than broken promises, and ignored debts and financial chicanery. My daughter who I'm very proud of found herself in a mess. She is a single parent and was working as an RN with health insurance. She had some medical problems and ran up some enormous bills which her health insurance should have paid. However the health insurance company filed bankruptcy and left her hanging. She had two choices file bankruptcy herself or pay what she could. She went to each party involved and explained her situation. She then began to pay off each bill. I believe God honored that. Within five years while still paying a mortagage, and raising two teenage kids she got these bills paid. In many cases the people she owed money to when they saw her situation and her effort to repay forgave the debt and I beleived got blessed themselves. In other cases bills were reexamined and found to be wrong and she was told she owed far less than she thought. In other cases the company she owed money to, simply dissapeared and teh debt was wiped clean. I was God! If you ever saw her bills versus her income and other expenses and to know she has it all paid for, you would also know God honored her effort to do what was right. As you can tell I,m bursting with pride. I firmly and totally beleive God honors our efforts to what is right. It wasn't easy but with God all things are possible. EdB |
