Just to keep the record straight let me quote from Frank Boyd Hebrews and the General Epistles Gospel Publishing house.
"The emphasis which James puts on works led Martin Luther to reject the epistle as “a right strawy epistle, having no true evan-gelical character.” We can readily understand Luther’s reaction in the light of his marvelous deliverance from “salvation by works.” His conclusion was drawn through hasty views of the letter. But years afterwards he saw it differently; he saw that James does not exalt works as against faith, but works as the evidence of faith, and produced by it."
