Subject: Works in the Christian experience? |
Bible Note: Well I do know some points on Calvinism and Arminianism, and of course I have heard of Luther, but to dwell on their terminology and all the in and outs, this I haven't done. It was once pointed out to me, when I was a very young believer in Christ, that there were over two million religions in the World. They said that I wouldn't have enough time to learn about all of them and to grow in Christ at the same time. They explained to me that a person who works for the treasury department doesn't have time to study all the different counterfeit money that is circulating around; besides all the new phony ones that keep popping up. They do extensive study into the genuine money so that when a fake bill comes along the can spot it with out any trouble; the reason being is that they are so in tune with the real article. As for someone classifying me or not, as a Christian, at least it is Biblical. When God commanded me to study to show myself approver to Him, I am sure He meant for me to study in His Word since: it is inspired by Him and is profitable for teaching, reproof, for correction and instruction in righteousness. There are only so many hours in a day that are devoted toward study. It like someone once quipped, (to each his own.) I heard a good one the other day. The question was, if you were ever arrested for being a follower of Jesus Christ, could they find enough evidence to convict you? One individual said, well, I spend 2 hours each week in church. I ask him if he spent 8hours everyday in his garage, would that make him a car. I don't know if he got the point or not. Anyway thanks for the info. and responding to my thread, now I am more knowledgeable. Yours in Christ, CDBJ |
