Bible Question:
Thank you for your post. I could feel the love, and the genuineness of the way you disagreed. How then, do you explain Revelation 2:7, 17, 26 and 3:5? He who overcomes is going to be given the right to eat from the tree of life, be given a white stone with a new name written on it, be given some of the hidden manna and authority over the nations, he will be dressed in white, and will not have his name blotted out of the book of life, and Jesus will acknowledge him before his Father. There are many, many more passages that you are going to have to explain as well. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Gal5:16, I have no problem explaining passages to you. I see no contradiction of 'sinless perfection' and Rev. 2:7,17,26 and 3:5. If you notice in 2:7, Jesus says "will grant"; in 2:17, Jesus says "will give", in 2:26, Jesus says "I will give", and in 3:5, Jesus says "will never blot" and "I will confess".. Therefore, when we have finally overcome our sin nature by staying true to our faith in Christ and continue to nuture that which is from the Holy Spirit in us (our new nature), then we will be called "overcomers" when this old nature is finally conquered, once and for all, in death. Blessings to you, Makarios |
