Subject: Is the Bible itself evil? |
Bible Note: Greetings Nevermind! God makes it quite clear that 'thoughts' do indeed matter. Read Matthew chapter five. Here Jesus says things like: Mt. 5:21 - "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell." Mt. 5:27 - "You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Jesus also said: Mark 7:20 - "He went on: ‘‘What comes out of a man is what makes him ‘unclean.’ 21 For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean.’”" Heb. 4:12 says, "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." So, certainly actions will be judged, but so also will evil thoughts. p.s. - Concerning tough questions, we don't mind tough questions if they are asked out of a sincere desire to know the truth.
