Bible Question: I have always understood this verse to mean that the persons being spoken about were "held captive by Satan to do his (Satan's) will. How can I be sure that the amplified version is accurate in telling me that the persons are escaping "...henceforth to do God's will"? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Luke 15:17, 1 Tim 3:7, 2 Tim 2:26 ... aquila, Greetings. The context of these verses is 1 Tim 3:1-7 and 2 Tim 2:22-26. They both deal with the church leader. While in Satan's trap, they cannot do God's will ... but when they come to their senses and escape, they can once again do the will of God. Reminds me of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11ff) who didn't want to it his father's way. He came to his senses (vs 17). Searcher |
