Subject: SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH |
Bible Note: Kalos, one wonders to what lengths he should go in order to validate Scripture by experience. Must he, for instance, commit adultery, theft or murder, and experience the consequences of his acts, in order to validate the truth of Scripture? Or what must he "experience" in order to be assured of his salvation in Christ? What if he doesn't "experience" the warm fuzzies? What if he doesn't "feel" saved? Does that invalidate faith? ..... "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life" (John 6:47). What conditions did our Lord place upon that simple and clear statement? What "experiences" must we have, what "feelings"? We are saved by grace through faith, not feelings. Not experiences. Moreover, we are guided in our walk with Christ by His word. Not feelings. And not experiences. --Hank |
