Bible Note: EdB, Very, very good thoughts on that last post. Genesis 9:3 "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs." You stated that "God is speaking to Noah here and told Noah he could eat everything there is no prohibition on clean or unclean at this point." If we go back a little: Gen 6:20 "Of the birds after their kind, and of the animals after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to "keep them alive". Gen 6:21 "As for you, take for yourself some of all food which is EDIBLE, and gather it to yourself; and it shall be for food for you and for them." My question is if there is no prohibition for Noah, then why does he mention of the food which is edible? We can't assume that unclean animals were to be taken for food or their species would be extinct. You also suggested that maybe the unclean animals on the ark were only unclean for sacrifice, and not for food. But if that species was unclean there would only be two of its kind. If It was meant for food, but not to be sacrificed it would still be extinct. So I would guess from the compiled scriptures so far, that they were unclean for food, and sacrifice. If you eat them or sacrifice them, their still extinct. Could you please if you have time, give me your thought on these verses? If certain animals were identified as unclean before the flood; if they were still counted as unclean when Peter rejected them in his vision; if they are still called unclean in Revelation 18:2, where it speaks of "unclean" birds; and if Isaiah declares that all who are eating swine and the abomination at the time of the second advent will be consumed (Isaiah 66:15-17), how can we feel that they are now fit to eat? When did they become clean? If nothing else please explain Isaiah 66:15-17, because here is were I tend to second guess unclean foods being called clean. Thank You, Matt |
