Bible Question: Jesus was raised in bodily form. Does He still have a body in heaven? |
Bible Answer: Hi cariad, My answer would be, yes! Orthodoxy in general supports this view. Consider 1 Tim. 2:5: "For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" Jesus, to be our Mediator had to fulfill 3 conditions: 1. He had to be God; 2. He had to be a man; 3. He had to be sinless Your question touches upon the Doctrine of the Ascension. Great Doctrines of the Bible says this: "3. THE NECESSITY OF THE ASCENSION AND EXALTATION OF JESUS CHRIST The nature of the resurrection body of our Lord necessitated His ascension and exaltation. Such a body could not be subject to ordinary laws; it could not permanently abide here. It Was a Bodily and Visible Ascension. Acts 1:9–11; Luke 24:51. It was the same Christ they had known in life, only glorified, who had tarried with them now for the space of forty days, who had delivered unto them certain commandments, and whose hands were even then outstretched in blessing that they saw slowly vanishing from their view up into the heavens. It was a body of flesh and bones, not flesh and blood. So will be our translation (1 Cor. 15:51, 52)." I hope this helps:-) BradK |
