AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain [on the earth] will simultaneously be caught up (raptured) together with them [the resurrected ones] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord! Bible Question:
1 Thessalonians 4:17 "After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." Based on this scripture, it is evident that a rapture like event will take place. There is much debate on when this will occur. It seems as if more people believe in a pre-trib rapture, however personally I don't find scripture to support that, although I don't claim to know it all either. When looking back at scripture, there are times when the Lord saved people from destruction, i.e. Lot when he destroyed soddom and gamorra. I know this doctrine is not a matter of salvation, however because I beleive that the bilble has one truth, I believe we ought to know it. Anyone willing to shed some light on this subject?? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Fcs375! In summary: Pre-Trib - Believers in Christ will be raptured before the Tribulation. Mid-Trib - Believers in Christ will be raptured some time in the middle of the Tribulation. Post-Trib - Believers in Christ will be raptured after the Tribulation period. People who believe that Pre-Trib is the Biblically correct view of the rapture point to such verses as Romans 5:9; 1 Thess. 1:9,10; 5:9 to show that the church is not 'appointed to wrath.' But this point of view conflicts with 2 Timothy 3:12 which says: "Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." Therefore, Christians can and do go through persecution, and are by no means assured of not going through the Great Tribulation. Personally, I think the Pre-Wrath position is most consistent with Biblical testimony. But it's not as issue worth fighting over if we can all just agree on the 'big picture': John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
