Bible Question:
Hi Tim, Thanks for your input. But what about #2 (staying in an abusive marriage)? Couldn't that be done "consciously and willingly, seeking mortification of the flesh" as well? Not to mention that the Bible doesn't say anything about nursing homes, but it does tell us that the Lord "hates" divorce. --Cheryl |
Bible Answer: Cheryl May God Bless You for sharing your spirituality with us, and for making me, an infant in Christ feel welcome on this splendid site. My feelings are that we should always cater to our spouse, children, authorities, unless it conflicts with the will of God. That is, the Mosaic Law, and Christ's Teachings. does an abusive husband fit? I am against divorce too, and you are very blessed for your endurance in a painful situation. But I feel if you are not taking proper steps in turning this violence over to the authorities then you are allowing it and not doing the right thing. I do not know the whole situation so forgive me if i am wrong. I understand it's much more complicated than what you have put out for all eyes to read, bless you for that as well. Now,the Holy Spirit will rush to your rescue only if you do not have blockades against it. this includes the three areas of a Christian's life that are acceptable, your body, your spirit, and your estate. I would suggest, to gain help from above, that you seek it through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. In the grip of His Grace. Tim |
