Bible Question:
Thank you, Makarios, for your further thoughts. So, one could not legitimately suffer "for Christ's sake" the following ills: 1) A serious illness 2) Death of a family member 3) Natural disaster Since all of these cannot be suffered in holiness, must we then rant and rail against them? --Cheryl |
Bible Answer: Serious illness: i.e., Cancer is a chemical reaction our body has and the immune system can’t fight it because our defense mechanism is weak. It has been discovered that our immune system get weaker when the body goes through stress like depression, anger, anxiety, etc. When learn to find the lesson behind the suffering we will have less of these affections. Death of a family member - death is different to many cultures around the world. Western culture doesn't accept death as a part of life and embarrass the time we spent with that person. In some eastern cultures people approach you and ask direct statements and questions during a funeral. example of a premature baby: It was so sad that you baby died. Did you see him? Who did he look like? They accept death as a part of living. When learn to find the lesson behind the suffering we will have less of these affections. Natural Disasters: Has anyone notice that these types of disasters happen more than once in the same locations. We humane beings insist in developing societies by draining out lakes and moving rivers from where the earth has natural placed them, or living next to active volcanoes. Then we get upset when nature decides to defy mans creations (damns, Concrete walls, buildings, bridges, etc.) to do what it has been doing for millions of years. When learn to find the lesson behind the suffering we will have less of these affections. |
