Bible Note: Hi CDBJ,first of all I'm sorry about the name mix-up. The speeding question always comes up. Yes I have went over the speed limit many times. If we make a mistake while operating a vehicle is it a sin even if there is no intent or motive for speeding. I'm not talking about trying to make a deadline or running late for work. When is a sin and a mistake different, or are they? Is this the worst thing that we have done to make us a sinner? I agree with the verse that you mentioned in James. However in Romans I believe that Paul was giving his testamony in order to wean Jewish belivers from the likeness of the Mosaic Law talking about being in the flesh-carnally minded before they believed. But later in 8:1-2 he speaks of walking in the spirit. All this aside, lets say for time purposes that everyone sins. How much sin is tolerable? What's the cut off point? Can you loose salvation once you've obtained it? Why are we any better off now than we were before we were saved? Will God leave us like this against our will? Are we willing to say that the devil can put us in sin and God cannot deliver us out? What do we do with verses like 1 John 3:1-10, Romans 6:17-18, Hebrews 12:14? I just don't believe that this thing is as wide open as the world thinks that it is, Matthew 7:13-15. I believe that God can deliver us from anything. God is the one that I am proud of. I'm nothing and can be nothing without him. As the song says, I'll never be able to repay him. May God help us all and may God bless you always. Lanny |
