NASB | Ephesians 4:11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 4:11 And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], |
Bible Question: Are there any true prophets/prophetess' today like there were in the biblical days or have all prophecies been fullfilled? |
Bible Answer: Hello Hood Rat, There is some debate amongnst evangelicals aboout the continuation of this office. Personally, I don't see a compelling case from scripture. Given the completion of the Canon of Scripture, I see the office of prophet/prophetess not only a bit redundant, but being extra-biblical. If God has spoken through His Word (Heb. 1:3), why do we need something else? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
