NASB | Ephesians 2:3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 2:3 Among these [unbelievers] we all once lived in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by the sinful self], indulging the desires of human nature [without the Holy Spirit] and [the impulses] of the [sinful] mind. We were, by nature, children [under the sentence] of [God's] wrath, just like the rest [of mankind]. |

Bible Note: John, I never considered Calvinist theology, if this is your theology. Thanks for taking time to help me understand. I do see how you can argue for predestinarianism from the scriptures, but Calvinism evidently fails in its making square the infinite roundness of love, which by its Godly nature necesitates freedom and choice. I also think it falls on the argument put forth by the man in judgement before God (my previous post), in that God, by preordaining the man's sin, is ultimately culpable, not the man. If you take away choice, this is the only conclusion, which is illogical. I like your defense of this doctrine, but I don't see how it can hold living water. Colin. |
