NASB | 2 Corinthians 11:4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 11:4 For [you seem willing to allow it] if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted. You tolerate all this beautifully [welcoming the deception]. |

Bible Note: Norrie, you might suggest to your friend that she run a tally (using an exhaustive concordance) of the number of Jesus' references to both hell and to heaven in the New Testament. (There are more of hell than of heaven, by the way.) You might also suggest that she read all the New Testament verses (in context) that speak of hell, and ask her to mark those passages that even remotely suggest that hell is merely a place of sojourn for those awaiting "refinement" -- whatever that is. My considered opinion is that Christians would be better off to read and study Scripture and keep their paws off the computer keyboard that leads them to the never-ending stream of religious nuts that lurk in cyberspace. By and large these false teachers do for the spirit what sawdust does for a car's transmission. Sawdust soothes and quietens a transmission for a brief period before destroying it. --Hank |
