Subject: Can sinnners inherit the kingdom of God? |
Bible Note: Dear billk; you asked "but are we not all loathsome sinners who "deliberately, knowingly, and habitually practices sin." I belive that Christian's should not habitually practice sin. 1 John 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. (KJV) On that verse Spiros Zodhiates makes this comment - "This verse declares that when Jesus Christ takes away sin, the believer, the one so freed from sin, does not live in sin anymore as before. Whoever is dwelling (ho menon), a participal noun which means the one dwelling or abiding from meno (3306), to abide). None is excluded. Pas (3956), anyone, in reality means all or everyone. In actuality, though, it refers to each individual within a group, and it also refers to all those in the group which is the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:13). Nobody who sins habitually is permanently abiding (the present participle menon) in Christ, because no one who sins habitually is in Christ's body.Whoever abides in Him does not habitually sin. It is not possible to abide in Christ and to also live a sinful lifestyle This does not refer to an occasional sin into which a believer may fall and from which he repents and confesses and receives forgiveness (1 John 1:8-10; 2:1) Here is another verse - 1John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. (KJV) concerning that verse Spiros Zodhiates rendition of it is as follows - "Whoever has been born of God does not practice sin, for His seed abides in him and he cannot be habitually sinning, because he has been born of God." Hope this helps you May God Bless |
