Subject: is a christian allowed to drink |
Bible Note: Beja, I am a recovering alcaholic of eighteen years now and only by God's infinate grace do I remain so. The question that arises here is not are christians allowed to drink but more along the line should we. I choose not to for a large number of reasons my health and testimoney being at the top of the list. We are not told not to drink, but we are told not to be addicted, not to be drunk, or not to be pugnatious. It is for those very reasons that I no longer consume any kind of alcahol. But I never got a handle on any of it until I became a disciple of Jesus Christ. I got clean but I still wasn't sober. I only started getting a concept of sobriety when I got my life right with God, so here I am today. The sin may not nesesarilly be in the drinking (I say this with caution.)but in the misuse and abuse. This isn't just limited to alcahol. There are myriad of things that can be included here and it's always been in the nature of man to do so. It's incumbent on us as disciples to remain firmly rooted and grounded in God and His Word.
