Subject: Joe, baptism required for Lord's Supper? |
Bible Note: Hank: I am sure all most anyone who has been a pastor has a baptism story to laugh about. One time it was in a near by church that let us use there baptistry, as ours was unable to hold water anylonger. The church that let us use theirs, had me preach the evening service after the baptism. Who ever filled the baptistry was unfimular of how the water hearter worked. When I arrived with the two that were being baptized that evening it was a stormy cold winter icy day. I had an old siut I baptized people in. When I stepped in the Baptistry it was so cold I was shivreing. The two that were to be baptized insisted it would be ok, to go on with it. I baptized the first and he cane up saying the water was freezing! The other followed but I was shaking by the time I got out. The story does not end here. I brought my usual change of clothes, however, I forgot to bring my pants! I wrang out the wet ones and used the hair dryer as best I could. But went I stood up to come to the pulpit my pants were still very damp, and cold as could as ice. There was no heat blowing near the pulpit, and this was the hardest sermon I ever preached. I never forgot my pants again! From that time on I always oversaw the filling of the baptistry! Just as a added note once the lady who prepared the communion, used garlic crackers instead of the regular crakers. That was quite a supprise too. justme |
