Bible Note: Greetings CDBJ, Please don't tell me that you have also been led astray by Calvinism, my friend! I do not see how Romans 9:21 has a direct bearing (or should have a direct bearing) on Genesis 1:31 or the creation (or procreation) of human beings. "9:21 The analogy between God and the potter and between man and the pot should not be pressed to the extreme. The main point is the sovereign freedom of God in dealing with man." (1) CDBJ, I have many more sources that I can draw from that indicate that this verse is an expression of God's sovereignty, and should not be taken to its extremity. Please do not let the Calvinist understanding of this verse pollute your faith to the point that the Great Commission becomes meaningless, my friend, no matter how fashionable or "strong" an argument is presented. As you well know, there is a huge difference between what the Bible actually says as opposed to what a specific group or sect might make it to say, based on their own objectives. Blessings to you, Makarios (1) The Zondervan NASB Study Bible, 1999, The Zondervan Corporation, pg. 1649 |
