NASB | Romans 7:6 But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 7:6 But now we have been released from the Law and its penalty, having died [through Christ] to that by which we were held captive, so that we serve [God] in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter [of the Law]. |
Subject: What do we do with the OT? |
Bible Note: I agree with what your saying, it is now about intent - not the letter of the law. Which, in effect means that we are free from the law - but our intentions should now be subject to the guidance of the Holy Spirit instead of the letter of the law. I don't want to come off as someone who doesn't value the Old Testament or the wisdom of God in the levitical laws - but the original question was "Are we free from the law" and I believe that the answer is a resounding yes! |
