Bible Note: Hello Robert, Something you said sparked a thought in me. You write: "I believe that Romans 5:12 teaches that all are born sinners. As you have quoted Rom. 3:23, 'All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.'" First, the Romans passage does not say WHEN death spread to all men. It is true that the same death that came upon Adam, has come upon all men. When that happens is not answered. The Romans 3:23 passage says that ALL HAVE SINNED, which is quite different than saying ALL ARE BORN IN SIN. We have a lot in common. We believe that sin separates from God. We also believe that nothing but the blood of Jesus Christ can bring forgiveness. Our debate is over timing. When does a person fall and when is a person saved? I believe each person falls when he sins-as Adam did; and each person is saved when he responds in faith to the Gospel. Romans 10:9,10 by hearing, confessing, believing; Luke 13:3, repenting; Mark 16:16, being baptized 'for the remission of sins.' Timing. Good day. |
