Subject: why do we have to call Jesus -Lord Jesus |
Bible Note: Everything that Jesus said was scripture. John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Using chapter and verse only clarifies the exact section of scripture that is being use to establish specific truth. The where no chapter and verses in the writings of original languages, it wasn’t until the mid 1500 that it was all made available to us in the English. (The following is from the following) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapters_and_verses_of_the_Bible The first English New Testament to use the verse divisions was a 1557 translation by William Whittingham (c. 1524-1579). The first Bible in English to use both chapters and verses was the Geneva Bible published shortly afterwards in 1560. These verse divisions soon gained acceptance as a standard way to notate verses, and have since been used in nearly all English Bibles. Have a nice day CDBJ |
