Subject: The Gospel the sole means of salvation? |
Bible Note: The Gospel is the good news OF salvation. It is based on historical Facts 1. Christ died for our sins 2. Christ was buried 3. Christ rose from the dead 1 Cor. 15:1-5 if these three facts are not true, we have no gospel. (Barnhouse) The Source of the Gospel is God. (Heb 1.1) there can be no Gospel, not even a Gospel of God, apart from that which concerns His Son, the LORD Jesus Christ. Calvin in his comentary on Rom 1:3 said "This is a remarkable passage, by which we are taught that the whole gospel is included in Christ, so that if any removes one step from Christ, he withdraws himself from the gospel. For since he is the living and express image of the Father, it is no wonder, that he alone is set before us as one to whom our whole faith is to be directed and in whom it is to center. " |
