Subject: Why not Baptize as Jesus said to? |
Bible Note: Punkiedo, please forgive me. I never intended to get your blood pressure up. My intention was ONLY to point out to you the error of your faulty conclusions. I agree with the others, who posted after your unnecessary reply. Like others who adhere to false doctrines, your “evidence” reveals many holes. One of many purposes of this forum to “plug such holes.” Without coming up for air you stated you checked my reference in Heb 6. But then you blatantly contradicted yourself. You stated:” I looked it up in the greek text btw and it is NOT plural it is SINGULAR”. Now I will cut and paste YOUR PROOF from the NIV. “…Heb 6:2 instruction about baptisms,” . And, you provided more proof by quoting KJV -” Heb 6:2 Of the doctrine of baptisms.” Please note the plural-making-letter “S” on baptisms from both of YOUR insufficient proofs of it being singular. Huh? You don’t read what is written, you read from a pre-supposed mentality, wrong as it is. My “proof”? I wrote this statement – “Too often, we "think" our way of life is God-ordained. That’s one reason why the good ol’ USA is so unwelcomed in the world.” With wild imagination you, in so many words, attempt to rob me of my patriotism. I wholeheartedly agree with your “I was taught to love this freedom and this country, and that just like salvation my freedom has come at a great price.” Perhaps you recognize that price because your own family paid what mine paid. Or perhaps you only know “about” the cost of freedom by watching John Wayne movies. As a WW2 war-orphan, I know first hand the expense of freedom. My infantry officer father in the US Army was killed in action in Germany shortly before the end of WW2. And, as your family, the survivors of mine love this land. because we were war-orphans, my brothers and I were exempt from military duty. As we became of age we joined, against my mother's wishes. So she had a MP son in the Army, a LT in the Marines, a radar tec in the Air Force, and a sailor (me) in the Navy. This is also part of the price that was paid for YOU. Please, re-read the only comment about this great land of ours and try again to tell me HOW I “criticized” this wonderful country. What prompted you to state, “I feel like if you do not appreciate this country I am sure there will be one less generous willing to welcome you in”? Your comment was not only unwarranted, it was uncalled for and most certainly without a smidgen of worthwhile merit, as was much of the rest of your comments. My original comment stands. It was tied to my comment giving reference to your faulty “evidence” about a woman taking her husband’s name as proof that we are to baptize in Jesus name only. The good ol’ USA too often DOES think that our ways ARE God’s ways, and this falsehood is as contrary to Scripture as insisting that baptism MUST be according to one’s minute understanding of God’s mighty word. I have seen firsthand the evidence in numerous countries. Teaching the rest of the world that “taken the man’s name in marriage” is ONE of many such wrongs the good ol’ USA attempts to pass on as ordained of God. Thank for proving my point about us attempting to force “our culture” on the rest of the world. You correctly stated, and I cut and paste what you wrote - “I was using a cultural example.” Blessings, Taleb P.S. Your statement: “FOURTHLY, now I want to apologize ahead if I seem a little rude or upset,” - I forgive you and accept the apology offered. Thanks. |
