Bible Question: Is being baptized in the holy spirit or speaking in tongues mentioned in the bible other than during pentecost? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Matt 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; John 1:33; Acts 1:5, 11:16; 1 Cor 12:13 ... Do you see speaking in tongues when being baptized the Holy Spirit? Maybe in Acts 1:5 which is related to Pentecost, where the tongues were known languages ... and 1 Cor 12:13, where (known) tongues is one of the gifts - listed last, therefore not a greater gift (vs 31). Then looking at Acts - speaking in tongues only happened twice, after Penetecost. Acts 8:15-17 receiving the Holy Spirit and no tongues Acts 9:17 Saul (Paul) being filled with the Holy Spirit (for first time) and no tongues Acts 10:44-47 receiving the Holy Spirit and tongues (He fell on them) (Acts 11:15-16) Acts 15:8 Holy Spirit and no tongues Acts 19:2-6 Holy Spirit and tongues |
