Subject: what does the water refer to in john 3:5 |
Bible Note: Hi CDBJ, I hesitated to challenge your thoughts because the first thing I had to do was reach for my dictionary. You certainly know a few words that I do not know. However, after reading about "diacritical marks", and a macron, and a cedilla concerning pronunciations; I believe that that is not what I am about. In fact, my study is more about the "syntax" of the Greek; a study of orderly or systematic arrangement. What about my former post do you not agree with? I had said that I agreed with your Scripture reference choices to compare. Ephesians 5:26, "that *He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word," James 1:18, "In the exercise of His will *He brought us forth by the word of truth,..." Titus 3:6, "whom [which] He poured out upon us richly through Jesus *Christ our Savior,..." Compare/contrast John 3:34, "For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the spirit [lower case my interpretation] without measure. 35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into *His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life,..." The stars * are mine for "orderly" comparison. From the heart, Ray |
