Subject: Born of the water means? |
Bible Note: Hi Mommapbs, I believe that the John 3, Heb 9, and 1 John passages "fit together" well. My personal insight would be that they fit better if a lower case "spirit" is considered. Everyone here on the thread has spoken of a "spiritual" birth. So I, also, would interpret John 3:6 as "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit." John 3:8 speaks of the wind (pneuma) and connects it with our being born of the spirit. So I would suggest a consideration of 1 John 5:8 as being interpretted, "For there are three that bear witness on earth, the spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement." I would suggest that they are in agreement as far as lower case is concerned as well. I would logically think that the Spirit gives birth to a Spirit. That is why Jesus is the Son of God and we are merely sons [sic] of God. The spirit gives birth to the spirit, and we have a spiritual birth from above. From the heart, Ray |
