Bible Question:
I agree, according to the scriptures, Jesus is the way God made to obtain eternal life. Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of *JESUS CHRIST* of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for THERE IS NONE OTHER NAME UNDER HEAVEN GIVEN AMONG MEN, WHEREBY WE MUST BE SAVED. (Acts 4:10-12) And from *JESUS CHRIST*, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and WASHED US FROM OUR SINS IN HIS OWN BLOOD, (Revelation 1:5) But what about this scripture? If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15) |
Bible Answer: Hi welldigger, Although this is a duplicate question, I will be happy to answer it also while considering the verses we have introduced to each other. But first let me talk about "the way God made to obtain eternal life" that you have written. It is true that we have a "way" and a path to walk as Christians. But the Way, the Truth, and the Life was not made, but was only begotten. One might say that He is Eternal Life and offers us eternal life. He is the Way and offers a path to walk. The way that Paul offered in 1 Corinthians 12:31, "a still more excellent way", is the way of love. And that is the way that Christ commands of us also; that is, to love God and our neighbors. Paul's still more excellent way sounds like the verse I wrote about in this thread, 1 Thessalonians 4:1. That talks about excelling still more in the way, and in the "instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God..." I mentioned Hebrew 11:6 and you have mentioned Revelation 1:5. Hebrews says that we "must believe that (He) is; Revelation says, "Grace to you and peace, from (Him) who is..." I noticed that in your post to Hank that you recognize and know that Jesus is the Son of God, even God Himself. And again, I would say that He is the Eternal Life. And we give the message of this Life. We hope for eternal life and this is a faithful Word. Titus 3:8. As far as John 14:15 is concerned, we might compare it to Philippians 2:13 where it tells us that God is at work in us, "both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or disputing; that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world..." It goes on and tells us to hold fast to the word of life. All of these things suggest to me that we have the Word and the word (message, Scriptures, Bible, witness), we have the Life and eternal life, we have the Man and the holy offspring, we have the Holy Spirit and the holy spirit. I think that for this thread concerning John 3:16 that we need to believe in (Him). That is, belief in the God who loved the world and who is the (Light) of the world. John 3:20, John 8:12, John 9:5, Job 33:30. From the heart, Ray |
