Subject: What about John 14:15? |
Bible Note: Dear Welldigger, The question you pose arises from the belief that salvation depends on what man must do. I believe that salvation depends on what God has done for man. No one loves Christ perfectly. No one keeps His commandments perfectly either. Even Paul confessed Rom 7:18,19 "For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want." I depend upon a righteousness that comes by faith in Christ. I require grace to obey even the spirit of the Law. And as for good works, I pray that God will grant me the desire and the will to accomplish them. 2 Thess 3:4 We have CONFIDENCE IN THE LORD concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command. Perfectionism is unscriptural. We must await our glorification before perfection is a reality in our lives. I hope this helps. John Reformed |
