Bible Note: Hi Tim, I am not familiar with the texts so I will just tell you what I read. In the preface, Green speaks well of the Received Text of the New Testament. The back cover says it is the Greek Textus Receptus. And the copyright page says, "The Greek text -1976 by the Trinitarian Bible Society, London, England, and used by permission." 1) For the verse under discussion, 1 John 3:18, I would go with your smoothed down version if you included the love "of God". If you could not go with that inclusion, then I would go with the Literal version; for the variant reading says to me, "Get this right." As a counter of nouns and pronouns of Deity, I see the desirability of a total of three for that verse. 2) I trust that you will keep your priorities in balance and get enough sleep, my friend. :) From the heart, Ray |
