Bible Note: Hi Mark, I understand what you are saying and it has to do with the believer’s new nature, which is born of God. It’s not the new nature that is committing the sin, its old nature that resides in the body, where the new nature is trapped until such time as physical death or the rapture, when "new nature" is delivered. The majority of believers have trouble with this verse, 1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. We have the tendency to think as a whole person, including these messed up bodies, that we now have, where the old sin nature STILL resides. Paul found this out and was having the same problem. Many don't take into consideration the war that Paul was having in his body. Example: Like, why am I doing this sin if I love the Lord; how can I be saved and actually do this; I'm wretched?? Romans 7:24-25 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? [25] I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Paul had this struggle and he tells us about it in Romans chapter seven. (Please read on your own) One can, in order to glean a better understanding of what Paul is saying, add the words “old sin nature”, where Paul speaks of the flesh, or the old man, or the body of sin or death! Its like a tug of war that goes on in the believer and the object is who is in control. See my post #110813 for a clearer emphasis. Often believers will assume they are saved one minute then evidently lost the next because they committed some stupid sin. BAD SITUATION!!! Paul had the same problems and gives us the answer. O wretched man that I am! “who” shall deliver me from the “body of this death”, “the old sin nature”, I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Here again all of our hope, as believers, must be in Jesus and what He has done for us. He died for sins we haven't even comitted yet, but He knew we would so he took care of that also! Praise the Lord what a Savior, have a great day trusting in Him, CDBJ |
