AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard this, He said to them, "Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but [only] those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners [who recognize their sin and humbly seek forgiveness]." |
Bible Question:
I don't know if this is a question or just a request for prayer. I have a sister that has been seeing a psychiatrist for several years. He has her taking several different medications for depression and anxity. Recently she has been going through a really rough patch and her psychiatrist just increases her meds. She is saved and has started going to church with me because she does realize that she needs something else. My concern is that he keeps raising her depression meds and she has told me that she is having stronger and stronger suicidal thoughts. I have advised her to talk to her psychiatrist to get off or at least cut back on the depression meds as I know they will cause these thoughts. I spend several hours a week with her and I encourage her to read her Bible. She has deep feelings of unworthiness and feelings of hopelessness. Can you give me any verses that I can give her that might help her fight this battle of the mind that she is in with satan? |
Bible Answer: isa26: What you discribe that your sister is saying is not to be taken lightly. You need to call her psychiatrist and inform him of your sisters feelings. Perhaps, if you do not know how to make contact with the Doctor, have your sister call him with you being there for encouragement and making sure she does contact him. Please do not assume that all depression and feelings of hopelessness are of satan. There can be medical reasons for these type of feelings as well, sugar can even cause these feelings, either too much or not enough can effect the brain. As a Scripture may I suggest 1 John 4 the entire chapter, actually the complete book of 1 John would be very helpful for her. Pray for her when you are with her, that way she hears for herself that you are praying for her. If the depression is where she won't read herself read Scripture to her. I would keep a watchful eye on her, and follow up with her doctor to make sure she is getting the corrected medications she might need. One other resource that is very important is her pastor, or yours, this is very important as well. I sincerely pray for you and your sister. justme |
