AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 9:13 "Go and learn what this [Scripture] means: 'I DESIRE COMPASSION [for those in distress], AND NOT [animal] SACRIFICE,' for I did not come to call [to repentance] the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to change], but sinners [those who recognize their sin and actively seek forgiveness]." Bible Note: Greetings Makarios! Yes, that is a great illustration. I was also interested in the comparison to Hos 6:6 which uses the word "loyalty" for compassion. This illuminates what Jesus said to the scribes even more for me. Those who "think" they are right are often not. How we love to quote Scripture and yet at times lack the "heart" of it. Just some soul searching goin' on here! Blessings to you - mommapbs |
