AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 9:13 "Go and learn what this [Scripture] means: 'I DESIRE COMPASSION [for those in distress], AND NOT [animal] SACRIFICE,' for I did not come to call [to repentance] the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to change], but sinners [those who recognize their sin and actively seek forgiveness]." Bible Question (short): Still Struggling with the meaning... |
Question (full): I have still been struggling in pulling this verse apart. I can't see the real meaning behind, : 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,' is that Jesus saying he wants mercy/compassion and not sacrifice? Or is that the question we must ask God? And what exactly is this 'sacrifice' that he mentions...? |
