NASB | Matthew 5:32 but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 5:32 but I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on grounds of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who has been divorced commits adultery. [Deut 24:1-4; Luke 16:18] |
Bible Question: According to Matt. 5:31-32 As a believer in Jesus Christ and still single, am I free (have the "liberty") to marry a divorced woman who also professes to be Saved by God's grace? |
Bible Answer: Thank you all for your response. I know this is a very divisive subject and i agree this is not the place to try to make such a descision. It causes such division that I have left my Church because I take God's word at face value. I was told that we can not hold to one verse of Scripture and base such an important descision on that verse. I ask you (the person at church who said that) what do we do with a verse like Romans 10:9? |
