NASB | Matthew 5:32 but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 5:32 but I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on grounds of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who has been divorced commits adultery. [Deut 24:1-4; Luke 16:18] |
Bible Question: According to Matt. 5:31-32 As a believer in Jesus Christ and still single, am I free (have the "liberty") to marry a divorced woman who also professes to be Saved by God's grace? |
Bible Answer: BigJim I believe the answer is no, you cannot Biblically marry a divorced woman. The person who does so, also becomes an adulterer. In the verse you cited; Matthew 5:32 it clearly states; "whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery." Peace to you New Creature |
