NASB | Matthew 5:32 but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 5:32 but I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on grounds of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who has been divorced commits adultery. [Deut 24:1-4; Luke 16:18] |
Subject: based on Mt. 5:32 may I marry a divorced |
Bible Note: justme You stated that 1 Cor. 7:15-40 provides the context for remarriage. In that text the only situation for remarriage that I can find is upon the death of ones spouse. As we state in our vows on our wedding day "unto death do we part" Can you specifically show me any verse that gives clear support for the go-ahead for a divorced individual to remarry while the spouse is yet living?
