Subject: Struggling with divorce question |
Bible Note: Look at our savior's words. Matthew 5:31-33 31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. 33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: It seems very clear that the ONLY reason that divorce is acceptable is in the case of adultery. However, God will forgive this sin as he does all sin... Matthew 12: 30-31 30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. 31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. This does not excuse us from sinning... nor does it give us lisence to do so. Take all your requests to God in prayer and He will show you the way to go. I have been divorced and remarried so I can relate. Your first husband divorcing you because HE wanted to be with someone else is a tragic mistake on his part. However the passage is still clear that his divorcing you cases you to be in sin. BUT... if you have taken this to Jesus in prayer and asked for forgiveness... ITS A DONE DEAL!!! Find joy and peace in that you are forgiven and that Christ died for just your situation. |
