Subject: I'm confused about salvation |
Bible Note: JuanMas: My main interest is in allowing the Holy Spirit to convict and enlighten people. In convicting people of sin and elightening of their need for Jesus to wash away their sin, and once a person has made Christ Lord, the Holy Spirit renews their mind (if they are yeild to Christ and involved in His Wors) is the way the Lord planned personal growth. The only way a man or woman can ever change their sinful life or "cycle of sins" is by being yealded to Christ and His teachings. The problem is getting the cart before the horse, by demanding for people to change without Christ is fruitless. Having been a pastor I pray I have not given misinformation, I know I nerver knoningly have. But, where does personal knowledge of the Word come into play? From the point of inception a new Christian should desire the milk of the Word. If a new Christian has the Bible and knows how to pray, is there not a major responsibility on that believers part to follow up on what is told him or her to validate id such advice in Scriptual or misinformation? I say yes there is. We live in a culture that reading is not something many people do, whose fault is that, the poator's? I am convienced that people will blame the pastor, the Sunday School teacher, the Home Bible Study leader, or whom ever they can to avoid blaming the person most responsible for their spiritual growth...themselves. In Romans Chapter one Paul saya that the begining of a downward slide into sinful life is not being thankful to the Lord. How do we thank the Lord? Praising Him. The book Psalm is filled wit praise! My response is without praise in the heart and genuine affection for the Lord Almighty Holy Father the action are worthless and done on ones own strength, which are a waste. I can't overstate that there is an order in which things happen if we are abiding in Christ. Jesus said without Him we can do nothing. I can only speak from my personal experience, but I saw much more greed, power seeking, and gossip that I did sexual sin in the churches I was a part of. I did see divorced Christians treated shabbley, and judged as less then the "spiritual members" who were pure white in their opinion. I have and had very strict standareds for marring couples. That is not to say I did not marry a nephew I should not have married. Family pressure is one area I did make a serious mistake in. Was I wrong, yes I was. I say to you if you feel so critical spirit of teh Clergy and their wives them perhaps you could do a much better and sensitive job, if so consider if this could be a call of the Lord on your life. Perhaps I am wrong but you seem to come accross like you are deeply wounded, and a little angry. This is just my observation, and I could be all wrong, if you are as I think, you need not carry this load any further. Give this burden to Jesus and let Him deal with the hurt of this inappropnate advice and the pastor who gave it to you. I say that "inch by inch life is a sinch; Yard by yard life is too hard!" Perrhaps you are trying to move the mountian, yard by yard? I hope this gives you a different way to look at things. Blessings justme |
