AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 18:6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble and sin [by leading him away from My teaching], it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone [as large as one turned by a donkey] hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. Bible Question:
I will not waste my breath on you again. If fact, Eve was called Adam's wife (Gen 3:20) and God wrote Scripture, so He announced it. And it before they had sex (Gen 4:1). Genesis 4:17 says Cain had relations with his wife, not had relations so became his wife. I believe Isaac was married to Rebekah before they had sex. She went to his mother's tent before they were married (Gen 24:66). Until you can show me having sex makes one married, I will declare you are wrong. |
Bible Answer: Further, just as a "by the way," you might consider doing a word study on the words wife, husband, woman, man. You'll find that the words are identical in both Hebrew and Greek. The context makes the marriage in scripture, and in many cases, including your Genesis example, the word wife can be easily and reasonably replaced by "woman," which is the primary translation of the same Hebrew word. So again, God declaring Eve the wife of Adam is really still just your opinion. It is not conclusive, and after all the knit-picking you folks did over 1st John 3:6, I think that such knit-picking in regard to a touchy topic is surely warranted. Theo-Minor P.S. It is not I trying to prove you wrong. It's really not up to me to defend my position until the foundation has been shaken. You need to refute ME, not the other way around. But it's clear that none of you value truth above opinion, so I'll content myself with seeing what I see, knowing that you either can't refute it, or don't care enough to do so. It's easier to call someone names. |
