Bible Question: Let me take one issue from your post, "God did put you together, even as unbelievers" I have been told that God allowed us to get married even though it may not have been what He knew was best for our individual lives... But let me ask you to support your viewpoint alittle more. Thanks |
Bible Answer: Refer to 1 Corinthans 7:1-7:40 regarding the duties of marriage. You are referring to 1 Corinthans 7:14. For the unbelieving husband is santified by the by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is santified by the husband; else were your children unclean; but now are holy. This is where the misunderstanding comes in. This statement in the bible refers to couples who were married as unbelievers, then one was saved which then saves the other. If one is a believer and the other is a non believer it is best not to marry as you are not of the same spirit, least the believer could weaken in his spiritual walk with Christ. We are to edify, encourge and uplift one another. This is more difficult when one believes and one does not. God greatly blesses a Marriage where both are believers and the rewards are great. There is a verse in the bible, do not know the excat verse off hand but it comes to mind when answering this question. We are to be of the same yoke. This interpretation is given like the image of 2 oxen yoked together in the field to do work side by side; one oxen is trained and disciplines to the yoke around it's neck, the other is not. Imagine the two of them yoked together in the field trying to do some serious work? Gods work and lifestlye is very serious and we must be comitted to his will, plan and purposes in our life. Afterall, his plan, will and purpose is best...when we trust him and do his will, it always turns out better than we could ever have imagined. Trust God, pray a little harder for him to reveal his will, plan and purpose for you life. |
