Subject: Should Christians practice nonresistance |
Bible Note: in my oversimplified view of the world/the bible... "thou shalt not kill." that doesn't mean, except for the death penalty. the death penalty is murder and two wrongs don't make a right. murder is murder. death penalty, abortion, etc. matthew 5:38-39 NIV "you have heard that it was said, 'eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' but i tell you, do not resist an evil person. if someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." christ stood for love and forgiveness. so why aren't all christians ("followers of christ") pro-life? the death penalty is not about love and forgiveness. i don't think christ would advocate the death penalty. besides, i don't think that the death penalty is a deterrent. |
